This research examines cassava trading via the tebas system in Derongisor Village, Wonosobo, and its impact on farmer welfare from an Islamic business ethics perspective. The tebas system is a wholesale model where crops are sold while still in the field based on estimations. Key issues include potential uncertainty (gharar) and the farmers' often weak bargaining power. This qualitative field study utilized observation and interviews with 12 informants, including farmers and traders. Findings indicate that tebas practices rely on sampling mechanisms and trust-based verbal agreements. Regarding welfare, the system ensures income certainty, harvest efficiency, and transfers price risks to buyers. From an Islamic business ethics standpoint, the practice fulfills the principles of tawhid, justice, free will, responsibility, and truthfulness (shidq). The existing uncertainty is categorized as gharar yasīr (minor), which is permissible due to the estimation process and mutual consent (an-tarāḍin).
